🐍 PySanAntonio Recap: The Vision Comes to Life in Downtown SATX
Before our focus shifts to the next things on the DEVSA roadmap, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who spent their day with us at PySanAntonio, the first-ever Python conference held in the heart of San Antonio!
From Inherited Group to Conference Vision in a Single Year
Our relationship with the PyTexas Foundation started early on—the second event DEVSA ever hosted featured the San Antonio chapter, Alamo Python.
When the chapter organizer stepped down due to capacity constraints, I inherited the group, leading to a new logo design for the chapter and a partnership with the Python Software Foundation. What attracted me to Python was seeing its incredible versatility across industries—from data science and security to electrical engineering, web development, and homelab projects. At the time I took over the chapter, Python was the most used programming language on GitHub, driven by the massive rise of AI and machine learning.
Fast forward: As a passionate promoter of San Antonio, I felt our city, through the DEVSA lens, had built enough positive momentum, engagement, and partner support to host a major Python event. I started talking to the PyTexas Foundation about how we could compliment their 3-day conference that takes place in the spring with a dedicated day conference in the fall right here in SATX. That vision came to life with PySanAntonio.
A Day of Momentum and Community
The positive momentum leading up to the event was incredible, and it absolutely carried over to the day itself.
We had a delayed start due to the Veterans Day Parade passing through Downtown West SATX, and we ended up almost an hour past the scheduled end time, but we loved that everyone stayed until the very end!
It was great to see relationships we’ve helped establish come together, with tech-focused folks traveling from Austin and Brownsville. They came not because they were speakers, but because they genuinely wanted to experience our growing tech community here in San Antonio. We loved that we were able to use this event to spotlight different industries and use cases within the Python ecosystem.
Thank You to Our Amazing Partners and Volunteers
An event like this is only possible because of the unwavering support of our community, partners, and volunteers.

- Ednalyn C. De Dios and the Datanauts team for hosting the afterparty, giving away some swag, and that Raspberry Pi—a perfect way to end the night!
⚙️ Volunteers & Production Crew
- Richard Gower and Daniel A. Ochoa the new team behind Alamo Python, for their patience and time dedicated to handling registration, event setup, and testing.
- Roger Wong Won for helping us out on the day of the event with extra TVs.

Finally, thank you to all 8 of our speakers for sharing your insights, knowledge, and resources. Thank you for traveling, including Cody Fincher who came all the way from Dallas to speak!
Also, an extra shoutout to Paul Bailey for bringing copies of his book Async Patterns in Django to give away—a highlight for our attendees.
We are so glad our team was able to activate the first Python conference in San Antonio. We can't wait to see you all at our next community-driven event!
