From Basketball to Bytecode; Built for the Triangle
The emergence of the SoTX Triangle is being built one brick at a time — and November gave us a glimpse into a future filled with “$B’s."

Founder's Note
There’s a feeling you get when a city crosses into a new era — not because someone announces it, but because the work starts connecting in ways it never has before.
This month, that feeling showed up everywhere: boardrooms, basketball courts, bioscience, bytecode, and border health.
As storytellers, operators, and partners, our job is to document the shift, stay embedded in the work, and help build the infrastructure that keeps momentum moving through the South Texas Triangle — brick by brick.
This IS Texas, it ain't hold ’em. 👑🐝

$44B and Counting: San Antonio’s Bioscience Ecosystem in Focus at Health Cell 2025
Health Cell 2025 offered a clear snapshot of the bioscience engine powering the SoTX Triangle. Promoted as “an Evening of Storytelling,” select leaders flashed a future vision rooted in new data on the city’s economic footprint, workforce momentum, and th…

Python Lands in SA: PySanAntonio Marks a Major Tech Moment

Border Health Makes History with the LatinX Voces Summit
“Diseases don’t have passports. Just like mosquitos don’t know borders.”
That line set the tone for the first-ever Voces Health Summit in Brownsville — a gathering that placed border health at the center of both state and national conversations. And this …

From BBall-to-Bytecode; Built for the Triangle
San Antonio is entering a new cycle of growth — leadership in health, technology, and storytelling is emerging. The shifts aren’t theoretical; they’re visible, with generational investment approaching, major health and tech convenings choosing South Texas, and creators shaping conversations across the emerging SoTX Triangle. This moment signals a breakout. The momentum is here. The spotlight is shifting here. And the work is being done here — brick by brick.
Few stories capture that shift more clearly than what’s happening in the space between BBall and Bytecode.
This fall, we sat down with the San Antonio Spurs for a conversation hosted with Alamo Angels. What emerged wasn’t a sports story — it was a blueprint for how institutions across the South Texas corridor are modernizing. The Spurs have trained more than 150 staff members on AI, developed internal GPTs across departments, and are now saving more than 1,800 hours every month through AI-powered workflows.
Meanwhile, local capital is becoming more intentional — and more rooted. Alamo Angels now includes 140+ accredited investors, has deployed $7 million into 50+ regional startups, and recently spun out from VelocityTX to operate independently in conjunction with a newly formed capital group: VentureSTX. It’s a sign of growing maturity and confidence in the entrepreneurial ecosystem — and the early-stage capital mechanisms required to sustain it.
Zoom out, and the region’s innovation backbone becomes even clearer. San Antonio’s bioscience and healthcare sector now employs nearly 150,000 people, serving as one of the foundational “$B’s” in the Triangle build. UTSA is developing a $131 million Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Careers hub, opening in 2026. And with the 16th Air Force and NSA operations based here, San Antonio maintains one of the country’s largest cyber and defense workforces — another critical brick in the region’s future.
This is a glimpse into the environment the 434 Network lives in.
